Photo Diary: I Left My Heart in Tiger Leaping Gorge

This was it–the last travel of the semester. It seems a bit surreal that I’ll be on a plane back to America in 10 short days. It seems even more surreal that I have to begin studying for final exams while all my American friends are lounging at home during their month-long break…but we’ll just not talk about that. As for the obligatory sappy Goodbye China blog post, that’s coming up soon.

This last trip, however, was something special. My brother and I boarded a plane to Yunnan province, in the south of China nestled along the Burmese border. We headed to the province for one key reason: to hike through Tiger Leaping Gorge.

TLG is the deepest gorge in China and also one of the deepest in the world. We spent two days hiking through its beautiful scenery, from top to middle to bottom (the whole 2,000+ meters of it). I’m tempted to name it my favorite place in China, but given how incredible this semester has been, I’ll hold off on delegating that esteemed title.

I don’t think words can do much justice for this place, so I’ll leave that job for the pictures. A big thanks to my brother for putting up with my constant pauses to capture the perfect shot, a habit that I’ve picked up during my time here in China. Luckily, I think it was all worth it. These are some views I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
