Time is flying. Rather than flying, it’s soaring.
I’m a month into my senior year of college. I have 8 months to go until the real world hits. In times like these, it’s important to stop and observe. And, if you forget to do so, your only option is to look back. Not too much, and not too little, but a healthy dose of retrospection.
Recently, I’ve forgotten to do just this. Friends and family have been asking about my summer went, and I say “challenging and eye-opening.” I then step back and think, realizing I forgot an important word to describe it: beautiful.
I was fortunate to spend my summer in Louisville, Kentucky. Both this city and this state are vastly overlooked and underrated, particularly in regards to nature. It’s important to me that I never forget this summer and all that it gave to me, and I suppose this blog post is aiming to do just that.
Don’t forget to reflect, don’t forget to remember, don’t forget to appreciate, and don’t forget to breathe.
Here are some of my photos from the summer of 2015!
Red River Gorge – near Lexington, KY
Mammoth Caves National Park – 90 minutes south of Louisville, KY
Cherokee Park (a beautiful, beautiful place) – Louisville, KY
Shawnee National Forest – on the border of Kentucky and Southern Illinois (kind of cheating I guess…)
Clifty Falls State Park – Southern Indiana, 45 minutes from Louisville (definitely cheating but BEAUTIFUL)
Here’s to the next adventure. Happy September!
With love, Leah
